The Anchorage Police vice squad approached 26-year-old Jayshon Moore and 29-year-old Timothy Welch, looking to arrest the duo at about 9 p.m. Police in a written statement did not say what the planned charges were.
Welch had driven Moore to the area, police said. In an effort to escape, the pair rammed an undercover police vehicle and sped away, police said.
Officers soon found the vehicle abandoned near Wesleyan Drive and Queens Court, near University Lake.
The two men were seen running through the neighborhood and were caught just before 9:30 p.m. Police then searched an apartment Moore had been using on the 300 block of 32nd Avenue, where they found several adults and a small child, police said.
They arrested Jameeazhlyn Smith, whom police said lived in the apartment with Moore, accusing her of possession of cocaine. Police said they found drugs and two handguns in Moore's bedroom.
Welch is charged with third-degree assault, eluding and criminal mischief. Moore faces third-degree drug and weapons charges. Smith is charged with a fourth-degree drug charge, endangering the welfare of a minor and reckless endangerment.
