The Seawolves' men, meanwhile, remain a bubble team.
UAA's women (22-3) remained at No. 4 in the West Region poll Wednesday, and that ranking is critical because the top eight teams qualify for the regional tournament. The Seawolves entertain Northwest Nazarene, No. 6 in the region, today in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest at 5:15 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
In the regional poll UAA trails No. 1 California-San Diego, No. 2 Seattle Pacific of the GNAC and Western Washington of the GNAC. The Seawolves, ranked No. 13 nationally, wrap the regular season Saturday with a home game against Seattle Pacific.
If the Seawolves win both games they would be guaranteed a share of the conference title. Currently UAA and Western Washington are a game behind SPU in the GNAC standings.
UAA's men (16-9) also entertain Northwest Nazarene tonight -- tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. -- and close the regular season by playing host to Seattle Pacific, No. 1 in the region, on Saturday.
The Seawolves men are No. 9 in the West and are chasing No. 7 Cal State-San Bernardino and No. 8 Central Washington of the GNAC for the final postseason spot.
The West Region fields are expected to be announced late Monday night or early Tuesday. Most region fields will be announced Sunday, but the announcement of the West Region fields was delayed because recent tsunami warnings in Hawaii forced postponement of Pacific West Conference games that are pivotal for the rankings and were rescheduled for Monday night.
