Terence C. Gray, 28, is being sought as a person who may have some information in the case, according to police. He has not been charged in this case.
The victim, Edwing Valentine Matos, 29, was shot several times near a barber shop on the west end of Dimond Center at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say he and the shooter first got into an argument -- witnesses said it appeared to have been an ongoing dispute -- before the shooter pulled the gun.
Matos, who is the third of four brothers to be violently killed, died at a hospital a short time later. Matos' family says the altercation was over property stolen from Matos during a burglary at his home and that he may have been trying to get it back.
The gunman, wearing an oversized white sweatshirt, an Afro wig and a fake mustache, fled the mall and escaped.
Described as a light-skinned black man, about 6 feet and 215 pounds, Gray matches the description of the man who shot Matos.
Court records indicate Gray was arrested in November 2007 on a felony drug charge, though he later pleaded it down to a misdemeanor resisting arrest. He was arrested in January of this year on charges of felony eluding, reckless driving and driving without a license. He is out on bail in that case, which is still pending, court records indicate.
Police said they think Gray is in the area. He was last seen driving a blue and white 1989 Chevrolet Suburban with Alaska license plate CDE869.
Anyone with information on Gray's whereabouts is asked to call police at 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.
