This comes with the merging of legislation from the House and Senate by Republican Rep. Bob Lynn of Anchorage, and Democratic Sen. Bill Wielechowski, also of Anchorage. It is awaiting committee hearing.

Wielechowski said there are links between domestic violence and animal cruelty and that this bill provides another avenue to stop abusers before they hurt people. Lynn said his main concern is protecting the community.
