Adde's win at the RMISA -- which was also held in Steamboat Springs -- led a break-out performance by the Seawolves, who had 16 skiers post season-best finishes and placed a program-best second in the team standings, behind Colorado in the Feb. 26-27 meet.
The Seawolves best finish at nationals came last year when team finished fourth. UAA has claimed eight individual championships and 26 top-10 finishes since first participating in the national championships in 1981.
Joining Adde as podium contenders for the UAA men are sophomore Halfdan Falkum-Hansen, coming off third-place finishes in grand slalom and slalom at RMISA, and freshman Michael Schallinger, who was second in the 20-K freestyle. Senior Tor Christopherson and sophomore All-American Lex Treinen are also competing for the UAA men.
The UAA women will be represented on the slopes by freshmen Kayla Fry and Petra Gantnerova and sophomore Alex Parker, a two-time All-American and in the cross-country races by sophomores Jaime Bronga, Steffi Hiemer and Laura Rombach. Parker was third in the giant slalom and fifth in the slalom at the RMISA championships.
The NCAAs begin today with the men's and women's giant slalom. Nordic classic races are Thursday, the slalom Friday and nordic freestyle Saturday.
