Team Alaska is turning the Arctic Winter Games into its own private ulu party. Alaskans have hauled in 216 ulus -- the awards given in lieu of medals -- in the nine-day international sports festival that ends Sunday in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Alaskans have won almost one-third of the 666 ulus awarded so far. Of those, 73 have been gold -- more than twice the number of golds collected by any of the eight other regional teams from Canada and Greenland.

Trailing Team Alaska with 118 ulus, 33 of them gold, is Alberta North. Yukon is third in the ulu standings with 82, including 29 golds.

The biennial competition features 21 sports involving children and teenagers. For results, go to the Arctic Winter Games' Web site at awg2010.org.
