Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell is asking communities that want to host the 2014 Arctic Winter Games to file letters of interest with the Arctic Winter Games selection board by April 30. Earlier this year, the Arctic Winter Games Committee asked Alaska to host the 2014 Games and the state accepted. These games, which have grown to more than 2,000 athletes, were initiated by former Alaska Gov. Wally Hickel and the commissioners of the Yukon and Northwest Territories in 1969.
Questions concerning the Games should be directed to Campbell's office and his staff person, Renee Limoge, 269-7460.
This will be the sixth time Alaska has hosted the games.
