Patterson, who represents the Alaska Winter Stars and South High, grabbed two individual gold medals and a relay gold at the Junior Olympics in March, winning his medals by 86 and 13 seconds, respectively.
He earned his third straight state Skimeister title in February by crushing the competition at the state prep championships. Skiing for South, Patterson won his two individual races by 72 seconds and 65 seconds.
Patterson also represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships in Germany. He finished 19th in the 20- kilometer pursuit.
Patterson helped the Alaska Winter Stars win the USSA's Cross Country Club of the Year award. That marks the second time in three seasons an Alaska club has copped that honor -- APU's Nordic Ski Center was honored in 2008.
And the man behind the Alaska Winter Stars, Jan Buron, was celebrated too.
Buron, who also coaches at Service High, won USSA's award for Cross Country Domestic Coach of the Year. Buron also won the honor in 1999.
