Alaska-themed Tattoos

Location: Our home in Anchorage, 01-29-2011 This photo was taken when our baby Jameson (who was born 16 days late on his Daddy's birthday, Jan 24) was 5 days old. The arm on the left is mine, and the arm on the right is my Husband, Aaron. We have matching arm bands that are the same design as our wedding rings, which are Alaska Soul Catcher design by Alaskan Jewelry maker Jerry Hill, which we got from the Rusty Harpoon here in Anchorage. The Arm bands were done by Jake at Body Piercing Unlimited here in Anchorage, who did a great job with the tribal design and replicating the design on the ring.

Roof moose

A calf wandered up to a rooftop after the owner had shoveled the roof, leaving a nice entrance ramp. The moose was less willing to get off the roof than to get on. Saturday March 10, 2012.

A moose calf took a stroll up a large pile of snow and found itself on top of a garage roof in Anchorage, Alaska. After browsing on high branches and causing stress to its mother and the neighbors, it came off and was reunited with its mother.

Moose gives birth

These photos cover only about 1.5 hours, from 10:30 AM to just after 12:00 noon. They were on the lower Hillside of Anchorage on May 25, in our backyard of a wooded and fairly private subdivision. Mom & baby are still in our yard and seem to be doing great! Though I have no way of knowing this, I believe it is possible (likely?) that the cow was born nearby and that is why she chose this spot. In about 4 of the last 7 years we have had an older cow show up for a few days with very young twins. This cow looks young to me, and I think it is possible that she could be one of those young calves we have seen in our yard. Nice thought anyway...
