-- Heroes of the Diamond starter Micah Spencer went six innings, allowing eight hits and one earned run in a 4-1 win over the Anchorage Bucs in an exhibition game at Mulcahy Stadium on Saturday.
Heroes of the Diamond second baseman Ray Judy hit an RBI double and designated hitter Jesse Trail rapped an RBI single.
The Heroes of the Diamond scored one run in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth inning.
-- The Mat-Su Miners got the better of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in a 2-1 pitchers duel at Mulcahy on Saturday.
Joe Bircher earned the win for Mat-Su and Andy Mee closed the door with the save in the ninth. Ben Mount took the loss for the Pilots.
The Miners took the early lead 1-0 in the first inning, and the Pilots tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third when Cullen Mahoney came around to score on an Ernesto Ortiz triple to right-center.
The Miners scored the winning run in the top of the fifth.
-- The Peninsula Oilers' Taylor Siemens made quick work of Fairbanks Goldpanners, pitching a 1-0 shutout in less than two hours at Oiler Park in Kenai.
The win keeps the Oilers undefeated through their first four games of the season.
