Quake centered northeast of Palmer felt in Anchorage

An earthquake centered north of Palmer Thursday evening was felt throughout Anchorage but no immediate damage was reported.

The West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center reported the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.1. The Alaska Earthquake Information Center, however, reported a magnitude of 4.87. It was centered about 50 miles northeast of Palmer and about 85 miles northeast of Anchorage.

The quake hit at 8:57 p.m.
