AROUND THE HORN

• The Peninsula Oilers' Davis Page hit a walk-off, two-out RBI single to complete a 3-2 win over Mat-Su Miners in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday night at Coral Seymour Memorial Ballpark in Kenai.

The Miners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Oilers tied the game after Garrett Wittels scored on a passed ball in the sixth inning.

Mike Wolford pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the win.

In the second game, three Miner pitchers combined to no-hit the Oilers in a 3-0 win in 13 innings.

Miner pitcher Blake Dieterich threw nine innings, striking out three and walking two.

The Miners broke the 0-0 deadlock when Bret Schwartz doubled and then scored on a throwing error.

• The Anchorage Bucs beat the Anchorage Adult League All-Stars 4-1 Tuesday night at Mulcahy Stadium in their last exhibition game of the season.

The Bucs opened the scoring with a run in the second inning. Eddie Rohan hit an RBI-single as part of a two-run third to give the Bucs a 3-0.

The All-Stars scored a run in the top of the fourth, but the Bucs answered with another run in the bottom of the inning.

Aaron Griffin (1-0) earned the win to give the Bucs an exhibition record of 5-4-1.

• The Fairbanks Goldpanners stomped the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 11-1 on Tuesday in Fairbanks.

The Goldpanners' Martin Medina hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, one of 14 hits for Fairbanks.

The first game of the scheduled double-header got rained out, so the teams plan to make up the game as part of a double-header today.
