Alaska's high-fat champ: Eskimo ice cream

Just in time for your Fourth of July overindulgence, Health.com is out with a photo essay on the fattiest food dish in each of the 50 states. The entrees aren't ranked for their calorie or cholesterol content, but Alaska is a solid contender with Eskimo ice cream. Traditionally made with reindeer fat, seal oil and wild berries (and known in village Alaska as "akutaq"), it's now more commonly made with Crisco shortening. Substitute fish to cut the fat, Health.com advises. At least the akutaq recipe includes healthful berries; some other states' fat bombs offer nothing light to leaven the decadence.
