The driver, 42-year-old Steven McNeill, and passenger, Sharla Kuhlmann, were extricated from the overturned car by the Anchorage Fire Department heavy rescue team and were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.

Both had serious injuries.

Police took a call just after 5:30 a.m. of a crash off Hiland Road east of the intersection with Eagle River Loop. The call came from a passer-by who saw the gray vehicle upside down in woods.

Officers found McNeill and Kuhlman inside the inverted Audi A4.
