AROUND THE HORN

• The Mat-Su Miners' Scott Sitz threw a no-hitter against the Athletes in Action Fire, en route to a 8-0 victory at Mulcahy Stadium on Saturday.

Sitz's no-hitter was his first win of the year. He faced the minimum 27 batters and struck out four.

The Miners' Andy Mee went 2 for 4, scored twice and drove in two.

Josh Deboer (0-2) took the loss, giving up 10 hits.

• The Peninsula Oilers shut out the Anchorage Bucs 4-0 Saturday at Mulcahy, ending a four-game winning streak by the Bucs and remaining just two and a half games behind the first-place Miners. The Oilers will face the Miners today at noon.

• The Fairbanks Goldpanners beat the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 2-0 in 12 innings at Mulcahy Stadium Saturday.

The game was scoreless until Goldpanner Derrick Chung was hit by Derek Speigner's pitch in the top of the 12th. Austin Wooldridge was forced home for the go-ahead run.

Chung went hitless, but earned one RBI.

Elliot Van Gaver won, giving up two hits over three innings.
