Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. of Anchorage said the shutdown Saturday and Sunday could last up to 36 hours.
Projects scheduled for the shutdown include replacing a 36-inch valve at Pump Station 9 near Delta Junction.
The company shuts down the pipeline annually to give maintenance crews the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. North Slope companies typically schedule oil field maintenance at the same time.
The pipeline and Alyeska are owned by a consortium of oil companies led by the big three producers on the Slope: BP, Exxon Mobil and Conoco Phillips.
