Pilots drop Bucs to win Anchorage Mayor's Cup game

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots survived a few Anchorage Bucs rallies and emerged with a 6-5 win at Mulcahy Stadium in the first game of the Mayor's Cup series Sunday. The Pilots led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth but the Bucs loaded the bases with no outs. Pilots' starter Tom Harlan retired the next three Pilots without giving up a run in order to squash the potential rally.

The Bucs plated a run in the seventh and added two runs in the eighth with one out to pull within a run with the tying run on base. But Pilots reliever Justin Kemp got Dominic Piazza to fly out and Brett Atwood to gound into a fielder's choice to again escape.

The Bucs had one more shot in the ninth when Kemp walked two of the first three batters. Kemp settled in again and got Chris Seritella to fly out to shallow center and Eddie Rohan to ground out to end the game.

Harlan picked up the win with 7 innings of work after giving up three runs with two earned. Kemp earned the save.

The Glacier Pilots' Trevor Hairgrove had a solo homer and an RBI sacrifice fly, while Ernesto Ortiz scored three runs.
