• Anchorage businesswoman Kathy Ungerecht, board certified reflexologist, was recently awarded the status of AAEd, Accredited Reflexology Educator by the American Commission for Accreditation of Reflexology. Ungerecht is the only AAEd educator in the state and one of 23 educators in the United States with these credentials. Ungerecht owns In Health, a 325-hour certification training program, in reflexology. She is one of the founding members of Alaska Reflexology Association and currently serves as president.
• Carrie Burg has been promoted to temporary staffing recruiter at Alaska Executive Search. Burg was the administrative and research assistant for the temporary, clerical and medical staffing divisions at AES for four years. In her new role, she works with clients to identify and meet their temporary office staffing needs. Burg screens candidates to ensure they have the necessary skills, experience, and education.
• The Chugach National Forest - Glacier Ranger District has announced that Tim Charnon is the new district ranger for the Girdwood office. Charnon earned a master's degree in forest management from the Yale School of Forestry and has worked for the Forest Service since 1991. He had previous assignments in Oregon and Montana before coming to the Glacier District in 2002 as the recreation staff officer.
• Pediatric surgeon Dr. J. Brent Roaten has joined the medical staff at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Roaten comes to Alaska from the East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn., where he was also affiliated with the University of Tennessee as an assistant professor. Roaten is one of only two pediatric surgeons in the state. He offers medical care through Pediatric Surgeons of Alaska. A major focus of Roaten's surgical practice to be continued at PAMC is minimally invasive surgery of the chest and abdomen. Additionally, he has strong clinical interests in pediatric endocrine surgery and surgical oncology.
• Alyeska Resort Real Estate has hired Bob Gross, a longtime Alaskan and real estate expert, to represent existing and upcoming residential and commercial development opportunities at Alyeska Resort. Gross previously served as a project manager at Alyeska Resort, participating in land planning of the Alyeska Resort Mountain Master Plan, zoning and permitting approvals, renovation of The Hotel Alyeska, and construction of Alyeska Resort employee housing units.
• First National Bank Alaska has announced the appointment of two employees to officer positions. Aaron Wilkinson was appointed loan officer. Wilkinson earned bachelor's degrees in both political science and economics from Western Washington University before joining First National as a management associate. In that position he learned job responsibilities in both the lending and operations sides of the bank. Mimi Cook was named operations supervisor at the Eagle River branch and appointed assistant cashier. She has 16 years of banking experience, 11 of those in Alaska.
• Lounsbury & Associates has hired James Hall, PLS, to its staff as a project surveyor. Hall has 12 years of land surveying experience on a variety of projects -- from solar, wind and natural resource development to construction surveys for highways and residential subdivisions. His experience includes projects throughout Nevada, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona. His experience using laser scanning on forensic surveys, piping as-builts, topographic maps and more is key to completing projects on time and under budget.
• Marc Giampaoli has recently joined Scan Office Interiors. Giampaoli is a graduate of San Jose State University and was instrumental in the success of Scan Office Interiors from 1997 to 2005. He will now direct Scan Office's contract sales division, whose goal is to partner with Alaska businesses to provide office furniture and workstations. Giampaoli most recently returned to Alaska after working as a pilot for a United Nations contract airline.
