Previous record for consecutive rain stood since 1951

The rain Saturday only amounted to a trace at the airport, where the official observation is made, according to Weather Service meteorologist Eric Stevens.

But after nearly a quarter of an inch Friday, the Saturday misting was enough to add a bit of perverse pride to what would otherwise be a losing streak of depressing proportions.

And with only a few hours of blue skies the rest of the day Saturday, more rain might be on the way, extending the record. The previous record goes back to territorial days when rain fell for 27 straight days in the summer of 1951.
