A white sport utility vehicle driven by 56-year-old Charles Collins of Eagle River and registered to Homeland Security was found submerged in O'Brien Creek off the Taylor Highway during heavy flooding.
Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell declared a disaster area last month for stretches of the 160-mile mostly gravel Taylor Highway between the Alaska Highway and Eagle.
Alaska State Troopers told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner the body was being sent to the state medical examiner's office in Anchorage.
