Chugiak family driven from home by blaze

The American Red Cross is helping a Chugiak family whose home was damaged in a fire Sunday afternoon.

A couple and their infant are getting help with a place to stay temporarily as well as essentials for the baby such as formula and diapers, said Michelle Houlihan, chief executive officer of the Red Cross of Alaska.

Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to the fire at 15815 Old Glenn Highway. The damage to the home will be further assessed today to see when the family might be able to return.
