Voter turnout 27.5 percent in Alaska primary

Published: August 25, 2010

The Division of Elections reports voter turnout at 27.5 percent in Alaska's primary.

That's in line with the 2004 primary, where turnout stood at 28 percent. Turnout in the 2006 and 2008 primaries stood at 35 percent and 40 percent, respectively.

Tuesday's ballot included a hotly contested U.S. Senate seat, which remained too close to call with thousands of absentee ballots still expected to be counted. The ballot also included races for governor, lieutenant governor, U.S. House and two ballot measures.
