Bob Prunella, acting city administrator in Hoonah, says the officers, Tony Wallace and Matt Tokuoka, died after the shooting late Saturday night. He says he doesn't know the nature of the shooting.

Prunella says the suspect is John Marvin Jr., a Hoonah resident.

Alaska State Troopers have sent officers to the community of about 800 to assist in the barricade, but spokeswoman Megan Peters says no other information is being released at this time.

Prunella says the deaths leave the Tlingit village with just one officer. He says the Southeast town of Wrangell is sending over some officers to help out.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
