Business people

Michael J. Quimby has joined BBFM Engineers as an engineer-in-training, preparing to take his P.E exam. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in civil engineering. He has been an active team member on projects including the design of the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Clinic and Service High School Theater.

Margo McCabe has joined MCI Communications to help their clients develop and implement strategic growth initiatives. She brings more than 15 years' experience working with large corporations, small businesses and nonprofits. Since joining the company, McCabe has worked with Northstar Gas LLC, Koniag Technology Services, Professional Computing Resources (a Koniag subsidiary) and Nine Star Education and Employment Services. She assists clients with board-level strategic planning, strategic plan development and implementation, feasibility studies and marketing strategy. Margo holds a master's in business administration from American University in Washington, D.C.

Jim Scriven recently became the administrator/principal of Anchor Lutheran School. Scriven has an M.Ed. in educational administration and has 21 years of service in education, most recently in Modesto, Calif. He will oversee Anchor's preschool through eighth grade, before/after school program and summer program. Scriven replaces Keith Brosz, who recently retired after 15 years. Anchor Lutheran School is a Christian school serving the children of Anchorage for more than 30 years.

The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce has hired Beth Allen as the new membership services and events coordinator, responsible for the coordination of a number of Anchorage Chamber events and programs. Allen will be the liaison for the Anchorage Chamber Military Committee and Ambassador Council. She will also be the primary event coordinator for the annual Gold Pan Awards, "Get on Board With the Anchorage Chamber" train ride and monthly Brown Bag Lunch and Business After Hours programs.

John D. VonLangen was recently admitted to practice law in Alaska and has been working for Hartig Rhodes Hoge and Lekisch, P.C. for about a year. His work emphasizes commercial real estate, commercial transactions, commercial lending, bankruptcy, Native law and commercial litigation. Prior to coming to Alaska, VonLangen practiced in Florida for nine years. Lisa Doehl has joined the firm as an of-counsel attorney. Her practice emphasizes environmental and natural resource law, land use and rights, Native law and administrative law. She has 15 years of legal experience, mostly with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of the Solicitor, in both Alaska and Washington, D.C.
