The Glenn Highway will have lane restrictions between the North and South Eagle River exits over the next two weekends due to a culvert installation project, the state Transportation Department said.
From 8 p.m. today until 5 a.m. Monday, the southbound lanes between the two exits will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to one of the northbound lanes, so one lane of traffic will run in each direction. Something similar will happen Sept. 17-20, except the northbound lanes will be closed this time and traffic detoured to one lane of the southbound Glenn. This schedule depends on weather cooperating, the department said, and the weekend of Sept. 24-27 will be the backup time for this work. Motorists can expect delays and reduced speed limits through the work zone, the department said. The North and South exits are the two that come after passing the Hiland Road exit when traveling from Anchorage.
