Juneau police officer accused of sexually abusing girl

September 17, 2010

JUNEAU -- The Juneau Police Department says one of its officers has been charged with sexually abusing an underage girl.

Police chief Greg Browning says officer Brian Todd Ervin faces charges of first and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

Police say that the charges stem from a relationship between January 2008 and June 2010 in which Ervin allegedly inappropriately touched a girl's body.

Ervin has been removed from law enforcement duties and reassigned to duties outside of the department.
