Fairbanks mayor loses re-election bid

FAIRBANKS -- Fairbanks is getting a new city mayor.

Jerry Cleworth, a Fairbanks city councilman, defeated incumbent Terry Strle Tuesday by seven percentage points, or 252 votes.

The 58-year-old Cleworth has served 20 years on the city council. He is the owner of Alaska Rare Coins, a downtown shop.
