Group forms in support of ballot measure to aid education facilities

A group has been formed to push for passage of Proposition B on the Nov. 2 statewide ballot. Proposition B would sanction issuing $397 million in state bonds to finance education projects across Alaska. The projects include school renovations in Kipnuk, Alakanuk, Kwigillingok and Sitka; a vocational education center in Klawock; housing at Kenai Peninsula College, a Life Science classroom and lab building at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and seed money for a new sports/athletic building at the University of Alaska Anchorage, among other projects.

The group's new website is The effort is led by former state Sen. Arliss Sturgulewski of Anchorage, former Fairbanks mayor Jim Sampson and University of Alaska executive vice president Wendy Redman.
