HOMER -- State election officials have segregated 17 ballots cast at a Homer location where a list of write-in candidates was posted.
Elections director Gail Fenumiai also said all election officials have been reminded of the proper procedures governing elections, including not displaying a list of write-in candidates.
The action comes after the Alaska Democratic Party reported a list of write-in candidates was illegally posted on state Division of Elections' letterhead in Homer on Tuesday.
Fenumiai said if necessary, the state will preserve the segregation of the 17 ballots cast between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. when ballots are counted, and not mix them in with other absentee ballots.
