In tweets Wednesday, Palin accused the media of ignoring Miller's "winning record," message and plan for Alaska's future to favor "their Leftwinger chosen one." Palin promised to help "expose the truth and 'refudiate' the bull" at a "Change D.C." rally with Miller at 7 p.m. today in downtown Anchorage's Dena'ina Center.
Some bloggers Wednesday considered reports about the records overblown. Miller retained the support of Randy Ruedrich, the state GOP party chairman, as well as South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, whose support "continues to increase," said Matt Hoskins, a spokesman for DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund PAC.
"He's taken a lot of hits and he's sticking to his principles and it's admirable," Hoskins said. The PAC has spent a quarter-million dollars supporting Miller.
State panel rejects Berkowitz complaint
A state commission has rejected a complaint by Democratic candidate Ethan Berkowitz claiming attack ads by a national Republican group amount to illegal campaign spending in the race for Alaska governor.
Berkowitz filed the complaint late last week with the Alaska Public Offices Commission, saying Republican opponent Gov. Sean Parnell had collaborated with the Republican Governors Association in the ads.
The collaboration would have broken state law, he said.
But the commission on Tuesday said there was no convincing evidence to back the complaint, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.
An attorney for the campaign cited identical photos of Berkowitz that appeared almost simultaneously on Parnell campaign fliers and in governors association TV ads.
The commission said the timing "does not establish reasonable cause to conclude that there has been an unlawful coordination of campaign expenditures."
