JUNEAU -- A broken water pipe has soaked some historical documents at the state archives building in Juneau.
State Archivist Dean Dawson says a four-inch water system pipe cracked in the second floor stack area, and water flowed down the aisles and then down a stairway.
He says about 10 boxes of archival material on the loading dock got wet.
Among the affected records were 1920s territorial governor general correspondence.
Dawson says he expects a salvage operation to be successful.
