Holland America is coming back and plans eight port calls. Two other lines are also coming, deputy port director Stephen Ribuffo told the Anchorage Port Commission this week.

Oceania plans two port calls, sailing between Vancouver and Anchorage, and will swap out its passengers here.

Another cruise line, Silversea, plans one port call, he said.

Anchorage's economy got a slight boost from the cruise traffic this past summer, he said. Passengers flooded downtown gift shops. Crew members took advantage of the absence of a sales tax in Anchorage to snatch up pricey electronics including flat-screen TVs, Ribuffo said.

But restaurants didn't get much of a boost. Passengers mainly went back to the ship for meals, he said.
