He'll be a member of the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation subcommittee, the Highways and Transit subcommittee and the Water Resources and Environment subcommittee.

"Through these subcommittees I'll be able to help craft the new highway bill, which is once of the best vehicles we have for jobs and economic development," Young said.

Young in 2005 oversaw a $286 billion highway bill as chairman of the full committee. The panel will work on a new highway bill this year.
