Legal review planned for gas pipeline bill

JUNEAU -- A state official says there will be a legal review of a bill seeking to ditch a state-sanctioned effort to build a natural gas pipeline absent proof the project is economic.

Joe Balash, a deputy commissioner with the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, said there are concerns about the "impacts and potential exposure" caused by the measure.

Bill supporters say their intent is not to kill a pipeline but rather to create a sense of urgency about a project.
