Schultz earned that spot by virtue of her skip Patti Lank's victory Saturday in the gold medal match at the U.S. Curling National Championships in Fargo, N.D. The Lank rink defeated the Allison Pottinger rink 9-4.
Besides Schultz (who now represents Richfield, Minn.) and Lank (Lewiston, N.Y.), other teammates going to the world championships are Caitlin Maroldo (Rochester, N.Y.) and 16-year-old Mackenzie Lank (Lewiston, N.Y.).
This is the first national title for Maroldo and Mackenzie Lank and second for Schultz, who won in 2005 and went on to represent Alaska and the U.S. at the 2006 Winter Games.
Schultz is a graduate of East High and began her curling career at the Anchorage Curling Club.
