Helped by good weather and trail conditions, Kobin demolished Tracey Petervary's record of 4 days, 18 hours, 52 minutes from a year ago. It also marks a massive improvement over Kobin's 2010 time of 5 days, 50 minutes that left her in 14th place overall.
Kobin finished Thursday, a day after McGrath schoolteacher Peter Basinger won the overall title in 3 days, 6 hours, 30 minutes, with Jeff Oatley of Fairbanks 25 minutes behind. Anchorage bike shop owner Greg Matyas was third, nearly six hours behind Oatley, followed by Kobin.
Racers continued tricking into the McGrath on Friday. So far, only bikers have finished the race.
