Today the board will meet at 2 p.m. at Anchorage's Coast International Inn, an extension of its March 4-10 meeting in Wasilla. Items tabled at that meeting that will be considered:
• Proposals dealing with moose hunting in Unit 16B west of Anchorage;
• A plan to reauthorize antlerless moose hunting in Unit 18 in western Alaska, and;
• A discussion of predator control policies and community subsistence hunts in Copper Basin.
Public testimony will not be taken.
Then on Saturday, a five-day meeting to consider proposed changes to Southcentral hunting and trapping regulations will start.
Some 90 proposals seeking adjustments to hunting and trapping regulations in the Southcentral Region (Game Management Units 6, 7, 8, 14C, and 15) have been submitted by Fish and Game staff, regional advisory committees and the public.
The board will begin with staff reports, followed by public testimony on Saturday. Anyone wishing to testify must sign up at the meeting site before 10 a.m. Sunday. Everyone who signs up will get a chance to talk.
Written comments will be accepted on specific proposals until the proposal is debated. Comments may be faxed to 907-465-6094.
