Chenault says in his sponsor statement that the Legislature has made appropriations to a number of state agencies for in-state pipeline work over the last few years. The Republican says he considers it vital to have one fund for the project to make it easier to account for spending.
Chenault, a vocal supporter of an in-state line, says a separate fund also will bring into sharp focus the need to build such a line.
The bill calls for the fund to be managed and invested in by the Alaska Housing Finance Corp.
House Bill 203 has been referred to the House Finance Committee for consideration.
