Witness to fatal Anchorage shooting turns himself in

March 26, 2011

UPDATE: According to a tweet from the Anchorage police department, Tevin Timberlake came to the APD voluntarily Saturday afternoon.

Earlier story:

Homicide detectives said Saturday they are looking for a man who witnessed a fatal shooting in Anchorage early Thursday.

Devante Jordan died around midnight in a basement apartment on Richmond Avenue in the Mountain View, three days after his 19th birthday, from gunshot wounds, police said.

Police now want to talk to 20-year-old Tevin Timberlake, who they say may have seen the shooting. Timberlake is a black male 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 205 pounds.

"We have been trying to locate him for some time now, without success," said police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker.

Anyone with information on Timberlake's whereabouts is asked to call police at 786-8900.

Jordan's death is the second Anchorage homicide investigation of 2011.

Anchorage police investigated the first reported homicide of the year in early March and charged a soldier with murder. The apparent accidental shooting in Eagle River led to an indictment for manslaughter handed up by a grand jury.
