Incumbent School Board member Pat Higgins and challenger Bob Griffin were in the tightest race, with Higgins ahead by 186 votes -- less than 1 percent -- in the Election Day count.
Higgins' margin expanded as the last votes were tallied Friday, winning 18,563 to 18,286 -- still a difference of less than 1 percent.
In another tight contest, the East Anchorage Assembly race, the final votes were 3,403 for winner Adam Trombley, to 3,135 for incumbent Mike Gutierrez.
Trombley led 47 percent to 43 percent for Gutierrez on Election Day. That lead stayed roughly the same in the final count.
The third close vote was on a proposition to allow employees other than police officers to issue parking tickets downtown. Until now, only officers have been permitted to do that under the city charter. Voters said yes to letting other employees enforce parking rules by a 22,240 to 21,507 vote.
Election workers counted about 3,500 absentee and questioned ballots Friday. The Anchorage Assembly is to certify the election results at its meeting Tuesday.
