Alaska Club Summer Fun Day Camp Campers will explore a variety of arts and crafts, fun outdoor games, and energizing activities such as swimming, tennis, soccer and baseball with the Anchorage Bucs and Pilots. Events emphasize fun, not competition and are designed for all fitness levels. Camps are licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage. Day care assistance is accepted at all locations. Registration packets available online and at both locations.

Ages: 5-12, child must have attended school during 2010-2011.

When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday with before and after care available, May 23-Aug. 12

Alaskan Time Travel

Sponsor: Pacific Northern Academy

Campers will travel back in time and experience life as it was when Alaska first became a state. Participate in hands-on activities, including historic crafts and games, and a trip to the Natural History Museum. Projects may include building model log cabins, making soap and candles, practicing "hunting" and "fishing" skills, and panning for "gold."

Alaska Trail Explorers

Explore Alaska through hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, outdoor cooking, Alaska animals, camping, playgrounds of anchorage, fish and outdoor arts and crafts. Excursions include parks, trails, lakes and rivers, from Seward to Denali. Families will go to Denali National Park for a fun packed overnight camping experience. Different themed weekly activities. Your child will learn new wilderness skills, build new friendships and grow a love for the outdoors. Before and After care available, also limited scholarships available.

Survive: Alaska

Learn how to make fire without matches, use an atlas and find a fishing hot spot. Visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Kincaid Park, and Anchorage Museum to test your survival skills, Alaska style.

Arctic Sea Sailors

Come aboard to experience the thrill of the ocean. Learn the ancient art of marine navigation, master sailor's knots, and discover the secrets of Alaska's shipwrecks. Field trips to the Anchorage Museum and H2Oasis.

When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., June 20-24 or June 27-July 1

Waterworks

Create chemical concoctions, investigate invertebrates, and scrutinize the super solution that makes life possible in our watery world. Visit H20asis, Portage Lake, and the Anchorage Museum's planetarium to experience water in all of its states.

When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., July 11-15 or July 18-22

Avalon Destination Equine Summer Camp

Sponsor: Renae Boonstra

Participants progress through experiential based self discovery that emphasizes interpersonal relationships and individual growth. Students learn from the ground up how to care for and ride a horse. All inclusive curriculum includes ground handling, horse management, grooming, tacking, wilderness awareness and riding. Riding instruction is based on Sally Swift's centered riding philosophies, which includes riding with a balanced seat and soft hands. Yoga and Pilates are used in conjunction with building riding skills.

Ballroom Blitz with Jordan and Marissa Gingery

Master dancers Jordan and Marissa Gingery team up to teach techniques, posture, timing, choreography, stamina, spatial awareness and presentation to increase you comfort level with couples dancing. No partner needed.

Magic Camp with Don Russell

Join popular local entertainer Don Russell, "The Magic Guy", in an exploration of magical techniques, traditions, and hi-jinks.

Bayshore Club Camps

Sponsor: Bayshore Early Learning Center

Early experiences with nature have been positively linked with the development of children's imaginations and their senses of wonder and curiosity. Field trips may include Potter Marsh, Imaginarium, and Eagle River Nature Center. Activities include planting a garden, taking a "listening" walk, and learning about Bayshore's beaver, muskrat, and ducks. Each week the children will swim in the on-site pool.

Ages: 3-4, 4-5 and grades K-1

When: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, Starts June 1 or as openings allow.

Camp Bear Valley

Sponsor: Bear Valley Community Association

The camp offers swimming lessons, biking, hiking and outdoor fun, gymnastic lessons, tae kwon do lessons, the reading program through the public library, cooking activities and art exploration with Debbie Houseman. Small and large group weekly field trips to cool places like Crow Creek Mine, Alyeska and local parks. Children are in small groups of 10-15, based on age and grade. Staff are trained in First Aide and CPR and wildlife safety.

Summer Adventure Program

Programs are conveniently located in elementary schools in Anchorage and Eagle River and offer great flexibility for you and your elementary age kids. Activities include bike trips, day hikes, arts and crafts, science exploration, cooking, outdoor fun, and more. Licensed full-day programs focus on promoting physical fitness, healthy life choices, outdoor experiences, and community involvement. Before and after care is also available.

Camp Sholom

Every week a new theme will be explored, from natural disasters to story-telling to "food-ology." Investigate these topics through exciting art projects, field trips and guest presentations. Older children will have the opportunity to learn leadership skills as they assist the staff daily. A heathy and active lifestyle will be promoted through field trips to the East High pool twice a week and outside activities, weather permitting.

Challenger

Hike, bike, raft or ride a train on adventures out and about exploring Anchorage, Girdwood and the Mat-Su Valley. Participants should know how to ride a bike, be physically able to do basic hiking and come ready to play outside, rain or shine. Before and Aftercare are free. Lunch is provided. Camp Feather Winds

The perfect way to end the summer. Campers explore the woods, do arts and crafts projects, and more. High school campers can participate in leadership discovery activities and also experience everything camp has to offer.

Discover Nature at Singing Hills

Take Action Day Camp at Singing Hills

Girls will design their own community service projects and take action to make the world a better place. Kincaid Adventure Camp

Spend the summer discovering the joys of Kincaid Park. Campers will learn about animal tracking, hiking, rocket building, map making, orienteering, outdoor cooking, shelter building, beach combing and more.

Animal Adventures

Educational, hands-on learning activities include: horse care basics, riding instruction, pony driving lessons, farm animal education, feeding, chores, spinning wool, crafts, gardening, science, and cooperative games. Goats, sheep, calves, ponies, chickens, turkeys, pigs and horses. Stations will be used to ensure quality learning and individual attention. Bring your own snack. Week long sessions or "All Summer Program" includes ownership of a chicken, turkey, garden plot and a share of a milking goat.

Picnic with the Ponies Pre-School Day Camp

Bring your lunch and a grown up and have a "Picnic with the Ponies!" Visit the farm animals, ride on a pony, take a cruse in the pony cart and feed the goats and sheep.

XL to Excel!

Sponsor: Psychology Resources

A fitness class for youth struggling with weight problems and overeating, which can lead to diabetes and other serious health issues. Each day participants will work with a personal trainer to improve cardio, strength, and conditioning. Nutrition lessons provided by a licensed dietician. Class led by a licensed mental health clinician teaching self esteem, confidence, resilience, and developing a positive self image.

An intensive program designed to focus on developing leadership skills in teens through community involvement. Teens hike, swim, play field games, develop their survival skills, perform community service projects, and volunteer in the community. Campers are encouraged to attend Camp Peggy Lake sessions also.
