Soboleff's son, Sasha Soboleff, told KINY-radio that the distinguished Alaskan, Native elder and religious leader died in this sleep in Juneau at about 6:45 a.m.
Gov. Sean Parnell ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Soboleff's honor on Wednesday. Soboleff was born on Nov. 14, 1908, in the village of Killisnoo north of Angoon in Southeast Alaska.
The Presbyterian minister told KINY before his 100th birthday that the greatest thing in the world is love, and when there's love, there is peace.
He said he would like to be remembered as one who tried to do his best in a time of changing culture and one who took positives from both Native and Western cultures.
