Dampier runs 56.66 400

A week after she won a state high school championship in the 400 meters, Morgan Dampier of Wasilla ran to a personal best at a Junior Olympics age-group track meet Saturday at The Dome.

Dampier clocked 56.66 seconds to win the race, beating her previous best of 57.26.

Other meet highlights included Annette Faafetai's victory in the girls 13-14 discus with a throw of 88 feet, 8 inches, surpassing last year's season best for the entire Pacific Northwest region for her age group, and Zachary Taplin's double victories in the shot put (37-2 1/4) and discus (112-5 1/2).
