Anthony Mosholder of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Friday became the first Alaskan to cash in at the 2011 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, one year after 18 Alaskans earned money at the game's biggest, most prestigious tournament. Mosholder placed 26th in a field of 357 in Seven Card Stud and earned $3,113. The event required a $1,500 buy-in, or entry fee.

Last year, Calvin Kordus of Anchorage won $233,069 in one event and Ryan Schmidt of Anchorage cashed in four events for a total of $62,396.
