Army identifies paratrooper found dead

The Army says a paratrooper found dead in his Anchorage home was a 32-year-old from Fresno, Calif. In a statement Tuesday, the Army identified the man as Sgt. Adrian Anthony Velasquez and said Anchorage police are investigating to determine the cause of death. Velasquez was found May 31.

He was assigned to the 725th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Velasquez joined the Army in November 2007, completed airborne training at Fort Benning, Ga., and arrived at Fort Richardson in July 2008. He was deployed to Afghanistan with the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team from March 2009 to March 2010.
