AROUND THE HORN
-- Anchorage Glacier Pilots right-hander Christian Belleque has accounted for all three of the club's victories this summer after allowing just two hits and two runs Tuesday night in a 3-2 non-league win over the Anchorage Bucs at Mulcahy Stadium.
Belleque (3-0) struck out three. Philip Walby pitched two innings of hitless relief to earn the save.
The Pilots plated the tie-breaking, winning run in the seventh inning when second baseman David Legg hit a two-out single, stole second base and scored on designated hitter Clayton Eslick's triple.
-- Steven Bruce and Ryan Kemp combined on a six-hit shutout Tuesday night to propel the Mat-Su Miners to a 5-0 win at Hermon Brothers Field in the Palmer-based team's first Alaska Baseball League game of the season.
Bruce allowed just four hits and struck out three in 6 1/3 innings and Kemp picked up the save with 2 2/3 innings of relief.
Kevin Lum scored twice for the Miners and Stephen Branca rapped three hits.
-- Brazilian right-hander Gabriel Asakura and four relievers combined on a four-hitter Tuesday night to lift the Peninusla Oilers to a 3-0 non-league win over the Oceanside (Calif.) Wave at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
Asakura permitted just two hits in five innings. Relievers Mark Winkelman, Cameron McVey, Reese McGraw and Tyler Blum shut down the Wave the rest of the way. Troy Channing sparked the Oilers with a two-run double in the second inning, and catcher Ryan McChesney homered for the second straight game.
The nine-inning game lasted less than 1 hour, 45 minutes.
-- Blake Harrison pitched a complete-game two-hitter Tuesday night and Robbie Buller delivered a second-inning grand slam to give the Fairbanks Goldpanners an 11-0 win over the Lake Erie Monarchs at Growden Park in Fairbanks.
