TALKEETNA -- Firefighters battled a fire at a cabin and garage 1 1/2 to 2 miles down Talkeetna Spur Road off the Parks Highway Thursday afternoon.

The fire also burned more than three-tenths of an acre of land, said Matanuska-Susitna Borough spokeswoman Patty Sullivan.

There were no reports of injuries, she said.

The Talkeetna, Willow, Houston and Big Lake fire stations sent people and equipment, and the state Division of Forestry sent an engine and a helicopter, Sullivan said.

The call came in at 1:22 p.m., she said, and firefighters reached the fire 17 minutes later.
