AROUND THE HORN
-- The Anchorage Bucs won their second straight game Tuesday, a 4-0 win over the Athletes in Action Fire at Mulcahy Stadium.
Starting pitcher Matt Simms gave up one hit over six inning to earn the win for the Bucs. He struck out six and walked three before being relieved by Hunter Lemke, who pitched the last three innings for his first save.
Jake Valdez led the Bucs' offense with three hits and two RBIs, and AIA starting pitcher Taylor Aikenhead suffered his first loss.
-- The Mat-Su Miners scored three runs in the fifth inning, shutting out the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 4-0 on Tuesday at Hermon Brothers Field.
The Miners' Steven Bruce (2-0) picked up the win, and Philip Walby (0-1) took the loss.
