-- Logan Davis scored on Keenan Cook's looping single into left field in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night to give the Anchorage Bucs a 2-1 Alaska Baseball League victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.
Cook rapped three of the Bucs six hits at Mulcahy Stadium on a night when the Pilots plunged to 0-7 in league games. Bucs pitcher Brian McIlhenny worked a perfect ninth inning, and struck out two, to earn the win. Bucs starter Kyle Finnegan took a tough-luck, no-decision, allowing four hits and striking out 11 in eight innings.
Pilots starter Ty Linehan proved likewise sharp, allowing one unearned run in seven innings.
-- Infielder Ryan Miller scored the game-winning run for the Athletes in Action Fire on Wednesday, in a 2-1 Alaska Baseball League win over the Peninsula Oilers at Seymour Memorial Park.
Miller broke a 1-1 tie when he scored on an error by the Oilers in the fifth inning.
The Oilers stranded nine runners, failing to take advantage of four errors by the Fire.
-- Saturday is the Anchorage Bucs' Race to Home, a six-kilometer run starting at Mulcahy Stadium at 9 a.m. Participants receive T-shirts and snacks after the race. Register online at www.anchoragebucs.com or on race day.
-- Monday is the start of the Anchorage Bucs' free youth baseball clinic at Mulcahy Stadium. Through Thursday, kids age 6 to 13 can attend clinics from 9:30 a.m., until noon.
