AROUND THE HORN

-- The Mat-Su Miners overcame a four-run deficit Friday, beating the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 6-5 in an Alaska Baseball League game at Hermon Brothers Field.

The Pilots took a 4-0 lead after two innings, but the Miners rallied for three runs in the third to get back in the game. Kevin Lum gave the Miners their first lead when he scored on a Dominick Francia sacrifice ground-out in the sixth inning.

The Pilots' Cael Brockmeyer hit a two-run homer in a 2 for 4 effort.

-- Mike Miller was a home run shy of the cycle Friday, going 4 for 4 in the Peninsula Oilers' 8-1 win over the Athletes in Action Fire in an Alaska Baseball League game at Seymour Memorial Park.

Miller reached base six times, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Manny Reyes added three hits for the Oilers, and Jeff Yamaguchi notched two. Starting pitcher Kellen St. Luce picked up the win, allowing one run over five innings.

-- Robbie Buller went 3 for 5 with a home run Friday, leading the Fairbanks Goldpanners to an 8-3 win over the Anchorage Bucs, in a non-league baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium.

Trent Bridges also collected three hits for the Goldpanners, and Nick Varriale picked up the win in three innings of relief.

Landon Anderson led the Bucs with two hits and a run scored. Austin Boyle suffered the loss, allowing four runs over three innings.

-- Today is the Anchorage Bucs' Race to Home, a six-kilometer run starting at Mulcahy Stadium at 9 a.m. Participants receive T-shirts and snacks after the race. Runners can register today at Mulcahy.

-- Monday is the start of the Anchorage Bucs' free youth baseball clinic at Mulcahy Stadium. Through Thursday, kids age 6 to 13 can attend clinics from 9:30 a.m. until noon.
